What happens when you lock up hundreds of high school students in an art museum at night? A unique adventure of discovery! The innovative programme co-organised by The University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMA), entitled “A Night at the Museum of Art with Andy Warhol” was held on the 22nd of February and the 8th of March. The students were given the opportunity to explore creativity and pop art, media and technology, culture and society.
As part of the celebration of HKU’s Centenary and the HKMA’s 50th Anniversary, the Museum of Art opened up its doors for the first time at night to some 600 secondary school students from 56 local schools. Not only was the “Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal” exhibition opened for the excited youth, but also various Andy Warhol themed lectures, movies, music performances and workshops. Throughout the evening the students learned more about silk screening, media, photography, fashion, science and cinematography, from renowned professionals. Students were able to gain an unparalleled learning experience and a night they would always remember!
