If you are tired of waiting for the line at SU Canteen during busy lunch hours, or bored of eating siu mei fan every single day at CYM Canteen, you are not alone. But what other alternatives are there when food outside campus is exorbitantly expensive? Do not fret, here is a list of affordable shops around HKU main campus offering a wide variety of types of dishes to satisfy both your stomach and wallet.

The food at Yuan is Here may appear simple, but the flavors are simply marvelous. Yuan is Here offers a variety of Taiwanese dishes such as braised pork rice, fried chicken cutlet, and the infamous Taiwanese bubble milk tea. With a minimum charge of HKD 35, enjoy a scrumptious lunch/dinner at Hong Kong’s own Taiwanese night market!

Ba Fang serves dumplings with various fillings from pork to leek, and Taiwanese Rice Noodles, and all at an affordable price. Definitely a go-to place for lunch, tea time, and dinner!

Recommended dish: Pan-fried Dumplings with Kimchi Fillings (HKD 36)
