Fun beyond HK Disneyland – Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre

Hong Kong Disneyland is probably more famous for the Sleeping Beauty castle, the Space Mountain ride, and the parade shows featuring Mickey Mouse and his friends dancing on Main Street to cheerful music, than for being a place for boat pedalling and cycling. Aside from all the music and dancing and fun the theme park offers, did you know about the the Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre, which is just a few minutes away from the park?

Granted, the Inspiration Lake is a man-made lake, but that doesn’t take the fun or beauty out of it. Not only can you rent a bicycle there and cycle away around the lake, you can also rent boats and pedal your way across the waters. It is definitely a nice break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The park around the lake is very pleasant as well, with a lot of trees and grass – the ideal place for a picnic.

There is also a 7-11 convenience store at the Recreation Center, though if you visit during the weekend, expect a long queue, especially if you’re considering renting a boat.

So next time when you pay a visit to Disneyland, consider taking a detour to Inspiration Lake. Admission is free (though the boats/bicycles aren’t)!
