It has been nearly two years since I posted my first post for hKUDOS… Two years! Time surely does fly! I remember and still get awkward and puzzled looks every time I tell people, “I write for hKUDOS.” “What’s that?”…Le sigh… Lets break it down. hKUDOS is the student blog for HKU! We, and potentially you too, write on behalf of HKU students and its century-old heritage; you technically work for the school as student bloggers to promote and showcase student life in HKU. We mainly blog…on a myriad spread of topics and interests since you are given the liberty of authorship. hKUDOS is more than just blogging for members gather together to discuss the perennial, nearly unsolvable questions like, “How to promote hKUDOS?”, but we are heading the right direction regarding this… hKUDOS, to simply put, is the HKU’s online community that engages young adult authors in sharing and discussing interests while being the representatives of the school.

For me as a blogger, hKUDOS is the creative outlet I truly enjoy; there is this unique satisfaction you get each time you post akin to seeing your passbook ballooning as your credential as a professional increases. For a person who once dreamed about being a journalist, this was an expression I have been seeking while living out my academic life. hKUDOS truly is an exceptional opportunity for me and I am glad that I have taken it. A sense of belonging is hard to develop in an university where the majority speaks a first language different from yours but I have felt home with the hKUDOS community too. Experiences are meant to be shared and I hope this might encourage you to decide to join hKUDOS. I am aware that there had been a mass mail for it but I wanted to make a personal “plea” to show my gratitude and hope to attract new hKUDOS members. Blogging works best as a team and hKUDOS is open and waiting!

Starting from this year we are seeing some novel changes in hKUDOS. We are planning to introduce journalistic elements to the site with campus reporters aiming to do active coverage of various events around campus. We are engaging further into the school with potential upgrade of the school mass mail system by setting up an interactive calendar. There is also a possibility of the site having an open-ended commentary section for enriching and enlarging our viewpoints. For better or worse, hKUDOS will grab back! And you are invited to join the force…
