Once upon a time…

once-upon-a-time1

Once upon a time a boy named S took flight to an island to learn about the world and oneself. In a strange land the diffident S made new friends, some stayed behind and some faded away from conscience. In the island vegetables are dearer than meat so he switched quite quickly with some sporadic spells of fruits. Inhibitions led to silence, further silences as days seeped into darkness. In the beginning, the sun shone bright, soon the wind tore apart his umbrella and finally winter braced everyone. Like time he assumed different roles, for all seasons. Primarily a student yet beings differing in their scope and outreach, all encompassed in S. Relations obscure in a narrative with ambiguities, life of S exemplifies it when hesitation overrides shame, keeping goals and motives a private affair.

His explorations into lives unknown and landscapes unseen endured over the course of his stay in the island. Moments eventful etched in his mind, ceaseless thoughts flow like a stream and he always chooses upstream.

Reflection, this month’s theme, or rather first-year experience at HKU, yeah. Aman and Tanisha wrote about it so well that I just simply had a very short story to tell you about S. I don’t know into which all moments I should construct a window for you all to glimpse into my first year at HKU. Blurts and bits of it are always breathing in my previous articles for the blog so I chose to keep it short and distant coz for me reflection simply means myself on a mirror, far and untouched…
